Just do it (yourself)

I am all about décor lately – and this is one DIY I am definitely going to do. So easy to turn an old lamp into a super glam table… The search for vintage brass lamp stands has begun!

Spotted: This is what (a lot of) Chanel will do to a girl...

OK...  a lot of Chanel and a nose job – possibly...
In early March the new Blake Lively for Chanel ads was released. She was announced the new face of Chanel December last year after palling around with Karl Lagerfeld and showing up to events wearing Chanel clothes all through fall.
Somewhere, Leighton Meester/Blair is looking for a new agent!
She really looks stunning in the ads and I think she complements the brand well – that -and I really want her Chanel hair, her pre-Chanel hair - not so much.. Take a look at behind the shoot footage here.

Shelf fillers

We are still far far away from being done with the decorating of our new home, but we are getting closer! Honestly I never was much of a decorator, but now lately I feel like I want things to look nice – not only in my closet but in every room that surrounds it.
Our house is – how to put it – not how I would have built it myself. It is a Norwegian cabin style – which means tons of wood, shelves all over and many small rooms, but I am trying hard to make the best of it.
Our living room has A LOT of shelf space and instead of just taken it all down, I have tried to run with it and find good stuff to fill it out.  My favorite fillings are those created by Italian artist Fornasetti – do check out the website it is over the top awesome.  I can’t wait to see the flagship store in Milan; from the pictures on their website it looks amazing.
Other items I like are my miniature Egg chair in a glass globe – and my brown pile of goodness on the left (Zara Home box, Louis Vuitton’s guide to Paris and a Diptyque berries candle on top).

Goldfinger (no literally...)

I need to share this amazing ring with you. Be as it may, my life is not very goldfinger-ish at the moment, so I think I have to pass on actually getting it for myself. A mental picture of me passing the jam in my "New Mothers group" – with my goldfinger  - would make me a strong candidate for the 2011 crazy award (and it is only March!).

Anyway, as I mentioned I will be going to Paris tomorrow – I read that the Norwegian king and queen are going to that very same city this week also. Imaging bumping in to them (in the off change that they fly coach). The fact that they  get to wear crowns and HEAVY jewelry on a day-to-day basis inspire a great deal of envy in me, so much so that I’m positively green at the moment just writing about it.
I would silently have a panic attack inside my head while trying to keep a cool exterior and figure out a way to stay normal for the rest of the flight. I’d certainly hope that I had picked a nice outfit instead of my usual plane looks for the event, but let’s face it, I’d probably look like crap. The realization that I hadn’t put any makeup on or bothered to wear clean pants would give me my second panic attack and I would surely have to exit the plane prior to takeoff.
ANYWAY
The pic above is styled by our friend Taylor Tomasi Hill – take a look at the awesome full shoot here:

NO, No and no

Yes, I have been absent… Between moving in to a new home, a sick son and getting a shipment containing the insides of a full home, I have not had time to get my hands on the keyboard long enough to form a full sentence.
I hope you have been well? J.. While painting our living room I listened to (part of) Britney Spears’s new record "Femme Fatale". I used to be a big Britney fan and can forgive her for a lot of things – but honestly I am not sure where we stand as of now.
When I first heard “Hold it against me” I was thinking it sounded like she was trying to slaughter and animal with just her voice. And really, that might be effective – if I played that song for my dogs, they’d probably try to climb up on the roof and jump off just to make it stop.
Hearing her make “oOoooOOoOOoo” sound like something other than a cat dying, and for maybe half a second, she did! But only when she got to the word “hair extensions.” Of course. To think that 10 years can have such a horrible impact on someone’s ability to produce any goodness is just scary.
In other news, I am going to Paris on Monday (yeah!) – so stay tuned for some amazing pics (I hope) and a full décor update sometimes soon!

Just do it (yourself)

As we are moving into our new house on Monday I mentally decorated it a long time ago.
One thing I love about the house is that it has a WALK IN CLOSET, heaven – now all I need is a shoe wall in it.
Let’s be honest – we are not all married to an architect who can build the shoe closet of our dreams, my guy is in finance and would rather swallow a racer blade than build me a grandiose shoe wall, so I have to get crafty myself:

I found these IKEA bookshelves – If I hang them side by side, I think it could look like this:
